After my daughter’s death, I painted multiple works, many of them seven feet in length or width, in oil on canvas. Strangely, I never set out to in anyway memorialize Emily’s death or life, but my subconscious trying to relieve itself and make sense of the loss of a child could not help but put her into every creation.
