Maidens in the Forest Gathering Flowers
58 in. x 48 in.
This is the apex of all my years of working to create great art and having lived in and up to what I consider my fifth life. The Maidens series may be referred to as a ten-year evolution of and about my daughter’s existence. Days before she died, she gave me two films: Corpse Bride by Tim Burton and The Prestige by Christopher Nolan. There is no mistake that she knew that these two films would help me to heal.
She introduced me to the world of Goth and its treacherous beauties. Simultaneously I had begun the series Vampyres I have Loved. Without question, both artists’ influence is seen in my works, and my friends have often said as much.
I painted and drew thousands of works of Vampyres and war atrocities on canvas and paper. The main character in the Burton film was named Emily, that same one of my daughter and my model whom I met only two weeks after my Emily’s death could all but pass for her double.
